Industries

Pennant supply products and support to multiple industries.

Pennant has extensive experience working in the Defence, Aerospace and Rail industry sectors. Our software and hardware capabilities provide support and operational efficiencies to businesses across the globe.

Defence:

Pennant has worked with complex, secure defence and enterprise network environments. The defence industry plays a crucial role in the ability countries have to protect themselves. Everything from research, development, production, and maintenance of military equipment, technology, and systems for national defence and security purposes.
Since 2013 the U.S. Air Force Communications Agency (AFCA), certified R4i Viewer® for use on the Air Force Global Information Grid and R4i Viewer on the Australian Defence Protected Network (DPN).

Aerospace:

The aerospace industry is a sector that incorporates the design, development, manufacturing, testing, and maintenance of aircraft, space, satellites, and related systems and parts. Pennant assists the aerospace industry with logistics support analysis, asset maintenance, technical documentation software, and technology-based training solutions. As well as this, Pennant takes a “Through Life Support” approach to planning, implementing and managing every stage of your support life cycle.
We know the importance of getting it right in the aerospace industry, which is why Pennant’s next generation of logistics support analysis technology, GenS, transforms integrated product support requirements into a truly integrated, secure digital capability. Our R4i product suite provides all the tools you’ll need to create, manage and leverage information. Implementation is fast, and comprehensive training means our products can be realised easily and quickly, giving you the best outcome.
When Pennant design new equipment, the support and training requirements are a significant consideration, and Pennant has proven track record in providing support services across various solutions within the industry. Our GenSkill product, used in the WorldSkills competition, the world’s most extensive vocational education and skills event, is an excellent example of when implementing an electronic technical publication using our R4i product, enhances the capability and experience of the user.
Over recent years, the Group’s offering has expanded into civil markets by aligning and mapping our hardware and software training aids to aviation regulations, including EASA/EMAR, FAA 14 CFR Part 147, City & Guilds and CASA MEA Units compliant organisations.

Rail:

The rail industry relies on safe and reliable design, construction, operation, maintenance, and management of railway systems and infrastructure, to transport passengers and freights to provide safe, efficient and sustainable transportation solutions. As well as this, they rely on accurate data for their operator and maintenance manuals. Find further information on our solution here.
Pennant has over 65 years of experience in the rail sector providing professional services in training, technical documentation and much more. Pennant has been involved in numerous rail projects, showcasing extensive experience and expertise.
Recognised Rail Industry Association (RIA) members, Pennant are ISO 9001 accredited and verified suppliers on the Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS). Many manufacturers still depend on outdated, manual methods for utilising and storing their data. Their current source can be multiple spreadsheets and uncontrolled Word documents. The existing tools and methods can be time-consuming, with many instances of content duplication.
Manufacturers realise the importance of intelligent, integrated content systems that can reuse and leverage data, thus saving time and money.
Investing in integrated content systems saves time and money by:
  • – Quickly and easily configuring new models or variants
  • – Optimising maintenance procedures
  • – Streamlining your procedures
  • – Quickly producing user guides and other support documentation
  • – Reduces delivery time (manufacturer to customer)
  • – Increases operational effectiveness and reduces downtime
  • – Increases maintainer and operator safety and skills
  • – It is cost-effective, easy to use and fast to implement
Industry specifications such as Raildex (rail), Shipdex (ship) and S1000D (automotive) and technology supporting these specifications allow manufacturers and operators to obtain the many benefits detailed above.

Other – ILS/IPS, Shipping, Nuclear, Automobile:

Safety-critical industries are where the failure of processes and systems can result in significant harm. These industries prioritise safety as a concern and apply strict regulations and standards to reduce risks.
Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) or Integrated Product Support (IPS) are built on the fundamentals of several elements. Depending on who you speak with, some will say about the 10 Elements of ILS, whereas others will talk about the 12 elements of IPS. These elements include:
  • – Design Interface (IPS)
  • – Sustaining Engineering (ILS / IPS)
  • – Supply Support (ILS / IPS)
  • – Maintenance Planning and Management (ILS / IPS)
  • – Technical Data (ILS / IPS)
  • – Support Equipment (ILS / IPS)
  • – Training and Training Support (ILS / IPS)
  • – Manpower and Personnel (ILS / IPS)
  • – Facilities and Infrastructure (ILS / IPS)
  • – Computer Resources (ILS / IPS)
  • – Product Support Management (IPS)
With all these elements in support of systems engineering, a level of Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) will occur to provide answers to the questions that make up the elements. Many engineering organisations have a Logistics Support Analysis Records (LSAR) or LSA database solution. Within the LSA solution, engineers will develop the breakdown of the asset, which will then become the definition of that item.
Through the Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) in the LSAR, Engineering organisations can begin defining how to support the product. The LSA on the identified PBS also begins to assist in defining how an organisation provides support for the elements of ILS / IPS.
A crucial stage in the lifecycle is the Training and Training Support element. With our long history in producing technical training devices Pennant has bespoke engineering capabilities to develop procedural trainers, virtual maintenance trainers, modular systems, hand skills trainers and part task trainers, to fulfil customer needs.
