WordSkills UK 2019

WorldSkills UK returned last week (21st – 23rd November 2019) to the NEC, Birmingham, to welcome competing contestants, schools, colleges, employers, organisations and families.

Following the successful launch and demonstration of the GenSkill MK2 prototype last year, Pennant were delighted to head back to the Aeronautical Engineering Stand, yet again, with the GenSkill, and the recently launched Generic Fastener Installation Trainer (GFIT).

It was a pleasure to welcome Haydn Jakes (the 2019 WorldSkills Gold Medallist Champion) and Jack Hawkins (Engineering apprentice with Ryanair) to support on the stand, share their experiences and provide budding future engineers with answer to any questions.

Pennant representative, Alan Rampling said: “This was the second year Pennant have supported the WorldSkills National finals by providing children, students and parents with the chance to carry out maintenance tasks on our generic aviation task trainers. It was great to see how enthusiastic everyone was to get some ‘hands on’ practical training. The feedback we received was very positive and if we provided the spark to guide a few young people into a career in aviation it was well worth it.”

Congratulations to the Aeronautical Engineering National final winners and we look forward to seeing how the competitors progress on the lead up to WorldSkills Shanghai 2021.
