From the S1000D & IPS User Forum: A CEO’s perspective on why the digital thread matters
As a non-technical executive attending the S1000D & IPS User Forum, I was struck by how much the conversation has evolved. While discussions naturally centred on standards, specifications and interoperability, the underlying message was far broader than technical publications or data models.
My key takeaway was simple: defence readiness is increasingly determined by the quality, accessibility and authority of data. The organisations that can connect information across engineering, logistics, maintenance, training and operations will be faster, more agile and ultimately more effective than those still relying on fragmented systems and manual processes.
When organisations achieve this, the operational benefits are significant:
