Animation & Virtual Reality

Dry-docking a nuclear submarine prior to carrying out essential repairs requires an inordinate amount of concentration, grasp of the sequential processes involved and nerve! Handbooks may have their place but nothing can beat seeing the job done.

Since nuclear submarines aren’t available in abundance and the actual procedure takes around 24 hours The Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO) invited Pennant to provide an animation solution which would support this complex procedure and reveal the necessary processes at an accelerated rate.

Pennant’s experience in innovative concept design and its mastery of application-specific software resulted in a 3-dimensional, fully animated sequence which was ultimately delivered on DVD.

The success of this project led to further projects concerning other submarine classes and the Sandown and Hunt Class minesweepers.

In line with Pennant’s policy of adopting new technologies and processes and based on the success of our animation work we have won contracts to produce virtual reality tours of this nation’s front line defence platforms.

This is surely an emphatic endorsement that Pennant repeatedly delivers high technology solutions which meet the client’s precise needs.
