GenSkill

GenSkill complements the Pennant GenFly Trainer. It provides training in the hand skills necessary to work on aircraft components in confined spaces through access panels in an aircraft fuselage.

Each trainer contains two identical workstations mounted on a classroom workbench. The fuselage shaped shell contains access panels secured with different types of aircraft fasteners – quick release, toggle, torque, dzus, security bolts. The shell top is hinged for internal access. The trainer provides training in:-

  • Hand tool procedures;
  • Fastener operation;
  • Component recognition;
  • Wire Locking devices;
  • Maintenance tasks.
The internal components are typical of aircraft and include;
  • Control system - control rods, pivot blocks,pivot arm, torque tube;
  • Hydraulic components - PFCU, rigid pipes, flexible pipes, manifold, valves;
  • Avionic LRI - cable, connectors, mounting tray, LRI fit and removal.

The instructor can assign hands-on practical work to individual students or to task whole student teams. The students perform practical maintenance tasks using standard hand tools including torque loading, wire locking, lubrication, fault finding, removal and refit of components, and use of multimeter test equipment.
